To celebrate National Drone Day 2016 we've put together a compilation of drone music from the Okanagan Valley. We've been a little loose in defining drone in order to capture a wide breadth of music. From blackened drones donated by Avitas and Ad'Hurim through to singer songwriter Hayden Ward's drone-inflected indie pop and the free jazz of Darren Williams we wanted to capture as much of what could be considered drone/drone-influenced. Even so, the work we've found seems to have central threads, much of the work reflecting a sense of isolation and coldness, possibly a reflection on the cold mountain winters of the region. Or whatever - It's also just a whole lot of great music. Enjoy.
Purchasing a digital (or upcoming CD) copy of this album helps support OADA's projects, which are entirely out of pocket, helping build our local experimental music scene.
